New York Times Admits ‘Guns 2 Jihadists’ Scandal

This is an incredible report in the New York Times highlighting the CIA cash drops to the Afghanistan presidential palace and Hamid Karzai.

What really caught our eye is the point that some of the money that goes through the palace “disappears” and is likely ending up funding the Taliban:

Like the Iranian cash, much of the C.I.A.’s money goes to paying off warlords and politicians, many of whom have ties to the drug trade and, in some cases, the Taliban. The result, American and Afghan officials said, is that the agency has greased the wheels of the same patronage networks that American diplomats and law enforcement agents have struggled unsuccessfully to dismantle, leaving the government in the grips of what are basically organized crime syndicates.

Guns 2 Jihadists indeed.  There’s a huge interest in keeping the fighting going and how else did you think the Taliban got their arms and shelter?

The United States will not be leaving Afghanistan in 2014 as President Obama claims.  He plans to leave at least 20,000 troops behind in the country and the insurgency is likely to step up in the interim.

The smart money is on the US never leaving at all simply because there is huge amounts of money funneled through the various corrupt networks dependent on the US being there.  These criminals will make sure there is plenty of fighting to be done and it may even lead to them carrying out terror attacks in the US to further ensnare the American military.

In short: Anything to keep these lucrative cash drops coming.
